(A) Adoption. The 1982 edition of the State Uniform Fire Code is hereby adopted as though set forth verbatim herein. One copy of the code shall be marked “CITY OF ST. JAMES - OFFICIAL COPY”, and kept on file in the office of the City Clerk-Treasurer, and open to inspection, and use, by the public.
(B) Storage of flammable and explosives material. No bulk plants for storage of flammable or combustible liquids, or bulk storage of liquified petroleum gas, not established on the effective date of this section, shall be permitted. No storage of explosives or blasting agents shall be permitted.

(A) It is unlawful for any person to erect, construct, enlarge, alter, repair, move, improve, remove, convert, or demolish any building or structure, or any part or portion thereof, including, but not limited to, the plumbing, electrical, ventilating, heating, or air conditioning systems therein, or cause the same to be done, without first obtaining a separate building or mechanical permit for each building, structure, or mechanical components from the Superintendent of Public Works.
(B) Building permits shall not be required for utility sheds under 120 square feet, or maintenance (shingles, windows, and siding) of any structure of less than $1,000 in value.

The issuance of permits, and the collection of fees, shall be as authorized in M.S. § 326B.121, subd. 1, as it may be amended from time to time. Permit fees shall be assessed for the work governed by the Building Code in accordance with the fee schedules Exhibit A and Exhibit B, adopted by the city in the 2020 Uniform Building Code, and incorporated herein by reference. Permit Fee Schedules Exhibit A and Exhibit B may be viewed in the office of City Clerk-Treasurer.
