The Building Department is hereby established. The head of the Building Department shall be the Building Inspector, whose title in various codes shall include the “administrative authority” and “Building Official”, together with such assistants and staff members, as may be authorized from time to time by the Council. It shall be the duty, and power, of the Building Inspector to carry out the provisions of the State Building Code, and the ordinances of the city relating to construction. The Building Inspector shall submit a periodic report to the Council covering the work of his or her Department for intervals required by the Council.
