According to the regulations set forth under the Ohio Plumbing Code.
Notation: A tracer line must be installed with a non-metallic service line. When an existing metallic water service pipe is used for electrical grounding, the pipe shall not be replaced with nonmetallic pipe or tubing until another approved means of grounding is provided.
[A service line is the pipe used to convey water to the customer/consumer from a City owned water main and such line is the responsibility of the property owner.]
