(A) The Assistant Chief and firefighters shall be able-bodied and not less than 18 years of age. They shall become members of the Fire Department only after a 6-month probationary period.
(B) The Council may require that each candidate, before becoming a probationary firefighter, satisfy certain minimum requirements of height, weight, education and any other qualifications, which may be specified by the Council. Each candidate must satisfactorily pass a physical examination.
