§ 132.20 STOPPING PERSONS; SEARCHING FOR WEAPONS.
A police officer may stop any person abroad in a public place whom the officer reasonably suspects is committing, has committed or is about to commit a felony or any crime or offense involving the use of a weapon of any kind, and the officer may demand from the person that person’s name, address and an explanation of the person’s actions. When a police officer has stopped a person for questioning pursuant to this section and reasonably suspects that this person or anyone else is in danger of life or limb, the officer may search such person for a dangerous weapon. If a police officer finds such a weapon or any other thing, the possession of which may constitute a crime or offense, the officer may impound it until the completing of the questioning, at which time the officer shall either return it, if lawfully possessed, or arrest such person.
