(a) The Director of Public Service and Safety is authorized and directed to supply police officers with citations tags, for the purpose of giving notice to persons violating any provision of this Traffic Code or other law or ordinance affecting the use of streets. The notice may be given by delivering the tag to the violator or by affixing it to the vehicle. The citation tag shall direct the violator to appear and present the tag at a designated office in the Village Hall at or before a date and hour specified thereon. Nothing in this section shall be construed to abridge the power of a police officer to arrest any violator and take him into custody.
(b) No person charged with violating any provision of this Traffic Code shall present a citation tag or file a written plea of guilty with the Clerk of Court under a name other than his correct and true name. (Ord. 9-1943. Passed 4-1-43; Ord. 24-2019. Passed 12-17-19.)
(c) Whoever violates any provision of this section is guilty of a minor misdemeanor on a first offense; on a second offense within one year after the first offense, the person is guilty of a misdemeanor of the fourth degree; on each subsequent offense within one year after the first offense, the person is guilty of a misdemeanor of the third degree.
