Any claim or suit brought against any member or employee of the Department of Public Safety, arising from or because of any action or inaction by such employee in the scope of his employment as a member of an emergency squad or other emergency unit on a medical assignment, operated by the Department and subsequent to the effective date hereof, shall be defended by the Director of Law until the final termination of the proceedings therein. The Village shall save such member or employee of the Department harmless from personal liability or any judgment resulting from such claim or suit defended by the Director of Law.
