(a) The driveway shall be constructed so that the drainage of the road is not adversely affected by the driveway. The drainage and the stability of the road sub grade shall not be altered by driveway construction or roadside development.
(b) Drainage from adjacent private property in excess assumed agricultural run-off should not be discharged directly into the road drainage system. Drainage from areas, which did not previously contribute to the road drainage system, will not be accepted unless specifically authorized by the Building and Planning Department.
(c) All culvert pipes used shall be of a size adequate to carry the anticipated flow of the ditch based on a "ten year storm" event. The culvert shall be no smaller than the size determined by the Building and Planning Department nor shall it be less than 12 inches inside diameter. All culverts, catch basins, drainage channels and other drainage structures required within the road right-of-way shall be manufactured or constructed and installed in accordance with the current Ohio Department of Transportation Standard Specifications for Construction. The minimum length of the culvert may be determined as the sum of the width of the driveway plus the adjacent fore slope and back slope; maximum slope of 1 on 2. The use of headwalls on culvert ends will not be permitted. The use of sloped and sections are encouraged.
(d) The driveway profile shall be determined using the following criteria:
(1) If the road is uncurbed, the grade of the driveway between the road edge of pavement and the edge of the shoulder shall conform to the slope of the shoulder.
(2) The grade of driveways connecting to curbed road may be the grade required meeting the sidewalk elevation if the sidewalk is 10 feet or less from the road edge of pavement. The grade cannot exceed the maximums given in Rule 3.7 4 (c). If the driveway grade does exceed the allowable grade, the sidewalk shall be adjusted.
(3) For uncurbed roads, if the sidewalk is more than 10 feet from the edge of pavement or if there is no sidewalk at a point 25 feet from the edge of pavement:
A. At a point 25 feet from the edge of pavement the grade of Residential and Utility Structure driveways and Field Entrances shall be within 2.5 feet of the edge of pavement grade. (10% maximum)
(4) Vertical curves (150 foot minimum) shall be provided at all changes of grade of four percent or more.
(5) If the sidewalk elevation must be adjusted to meet the driveway, the slope shall not exceed 3/8 inch per foot.
A. The enclosure of existing ditches beyond the end of normal culvert length is not allowed unless specifically approved by the Building and Planning Department.
