38-3-18 INSTALLING AND MAINTAINING SERVICE LINES.
The City shall be responsible for installation and maintenance of service lines between the meter and the water main. The user shall be responsible for installation and maintenance of service lines between the meter and the user’s residence. The City shall further be responsible for installation and maintenance of meter pits, setters, yokes, backflow prevention devices and related equipment. Service lines must be at least three-fourths (3/4) inch in diameter, and must be installed at a minimum depth of three (3) feet. Service lines shall have a minimum working pressure rating of 160 psi at 73.4 degrees F and shall be constructed of Copper (Type K) or Plastic (AWWA C901) or equivalent or better standard. Service lines shall not be covered until they are inspected and approved by the Public Works Director or his designee.
The user shall not connect any service line or any plumbing connected with the service line to any other water source. The service line shall meet all requirements of the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency's rules and regulations, the Illinois Plumbing Code, and the regulations in this Chapter. (Ord.
