The town adopted a set of building codes and a requirement to obtain a building permit for new construction, alteration and major repairs in order to better protect the health, welfare and safety of its residents. For this reason, the town adopted elements of the 2018 International Building Code (IBC), the 2018 International Residential Code (IRC), the 2018 International Mechanical Code (IMC), the 2018 International Plumbing Code (IPC), the 2018 International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC), the 2018 International Fire Code (IFC) published by the International Code Council (ICC) and the National Electric Code (NEC) as adopted by the State Department of Fire Prevention and Electrical Safety, State Fire Marshal. For the same reason, the town requires the inspection by the town’s certified building inspector to assure adherence to the adopted codes.
