The City Manager or designee may from time to time order the installation and operation of lighting systems for public streets and sidewalks pursuant to M.S. § 429.101, as it may be amended from time to time, which are in addition to and/or different than the normal street lighting installed and operated at the city’s sole expense (hereinafter referred to in this subchapter as special street lighting). The order will state the location and type of the special street lighting work to be done. The City Manager or designee will transmit a copy of the order to the Public Works Director or designee, who will then have the work done by entering into contracts for the work with the appropriate public utility company or other appropriate parties.
