No person may perform work in the city as a contractor involved in building construction, alterations, or remodeling or any other work for which a building permit is required by this code or the State Building Code, without a license issued pursuant to M.S. §§ 326B.091 through 326B.998, as they may be amended from time to time, or a license issued pursuant to the provisions of this subchapter for the type of work in question. If the contractor has a state license and no city license is required, the city will verify the state license.
