(A) Pursuant to SL2009-459, as enacted by the North Carolina General Assembly, the town is authorized, by ordinance, to require the registration of, and to regulate the operation of, golf carts upon public streets, roads, and highways within the town where the speed limit is 35 miles per hour or less.
(B) For purposes of this subchapter, a "golf cart" is a vehicle designed and manufactured for operation on a golf course for sporting or recreational purposes and that is not capable of exceeding speeds of 20 miles per hour.
