7-1-13: METER REQUIRED:
All premises using the city water supply must be equipped with an adequate water meter furnished by the city but paid for by the consumer; provided that such water service may be supplied by the city at a flat rate of charge until such meter may be installed.
Before any premises are occupied, a water meter shall be installed therein as herein required or application made for such water service at the flat rate of charge until the meter can be installed or no water shall be furnished such premises.
Each user of water presently using the city water facilities without a proper meter installed shall be required to cause the installation of a proper meter within thirty (30) days after written notice to that effect given by the city. Said city shall terminate water service if compliance is not made within the thirty (30) day period.
All meters shall be installed in a location that will be of easy access.
   (A)   Meter Mikes: Effective November 15, 1973, there shall be required a meter reading device commonly known as a "meter mike" to be installed on the outside of premises where a water meter is installed, said device being connected to the water meter by cable to allow a reading of said meter from the exterior of said premises.
Hereafter, effective said date, all applications for water meter installation shall in addition include the application of a meter mike for which the clerk shall charge the cost of materials only with installation to be made by the city without charge.
Owners of premises that have acquired meters prior to November 15, 1973, may at their option, also acquire meter mikes placed, with a charge for materials only and without installation fee charge. (1972 Code)
