   *The owner of any unlicensed family care unit or group home in operation on September 9, 2003 that is made nonconforming by this chapter may continue its use while following the procedures to attain compliance with this chapter for up to 180 days from its adoption. After that date, the property owner of any unlicensed unit or home determined to be in operation for which no application has been filed shall be notified by certified mail or personal service by the zoning enforcement officer of the violation. The notice shall allow the owner no greater than 30 days within to either file the appropriate application for permit or to discontinue the use. Enforcement remedies shall be applied as outlined in § 155.999. Existing units and homes shall be exempt from the required separation distances for the initial permit only; all provisions herein shall be applicable to any subsequent review.
   ** Uses allowed in the CC district shall be governed by those allowed in the underlying general zoning district.
