For the purpose of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
CERTIFICATE. A certificate of public convenience and necessity issued by the Town Board of Aldermen licensing the operation of a taxicab business.
DRIVER. Any person who drives a taxicab, either owned by him, her or by other persons.
HOLDER. Any person to whom a certificate of public convenience and necessity has been issued.
MANIFEST. A daily record of all trips made by a taxicab, showing time and place of origin and destination of each trip and the amount of fare.
OWNER. Any person operating one or more taxicabs for hire.
PERMIT. A permit issued by the Chief of Police indicating that an individual has been granted permission to drive a taxicab.
TAXICAB. Any motor vehicle, seating nine or fewer passengers, operated upon any street or highway on call or demand, accepting or soliciting passengers indiscriminately for hire between any points along streets or highways as may be directed by the passenger being transported.
