§ 91.03 LIVESTOCK OR OTHER DOMESTIC ANIMAL.
   (A)   No person shall keep any horse, mule, donkey, cow, sheep, duck, chicken, turkey or other domesticated fowl, or goat (or similar animals) within the corporate limits unless the following stipulations are adhered to. No swine shall be permitted. The provisions of this section shall not be applicable to bona fide farms as defined by G.S. §§ 105-277.1(1) through (3) and 105-277.3. The provisions of this section may be waived by the Board of Aldermen for temporary applications on public land.
      (1)   Lot or parcel must be a minimum of two acres;
      (2)   Up to four non-fowl animals may be kept on any residential zoned lot provided that there shall be at least one acre of land for each such non-fowl animal;
      (3)   Livestock shall be housed or stabled no less than 300 feet from any residential structure on another lot;
      (4)   Livestock shall be pastured or kept a minimum of 200 feet from any residential structure on another lot;
      (5)   Livestock shall not be permitted to roam unless pastured or staked; and
      (6)   All areas, including but not limited to stable, barn, and pasture, shall be maintained in a clean and sanitary manner to prevent odors, rodents, and flies.
   (B)   The maximum number of animals as specified within this section may not be legally increased as a result of an animal giving birth.
