(A) Authority of officials.
(1) Police and Fire Department officials.
(a) Provisions of this code and state law relating to motor vehicles and law of the road shall be enforced by the officers of the Police Department.
(b) The officers of the Police Department are hereby authorized to direct all traffic by voice, hand or signal in conformance with traffic laws. In the event of a fire or other emergency, officers of the Police Department may direct traffic as conditions require, notwithstanding the provisions of the traffic laws.
(c) Officers of the Fire Department, when at the scene of a fire, may direct or assist the police in directing traffic thereat or in the immediate vicinity.
(2) Traffic officers. It shall be unlawful to refuse to or fail to obey the instructions of any traffic-control officer or flagperson.
(B) Obedience to laws required.
(1) Generally. Failure of any person to abide by the provisions of this code and statutory law relating to motor vehicles and the statutory law of the road is a violation of this chapter.
(2) EDMS Section "X". For purposes of the State Electronic Document Management System (EDMS), this division (B)(2) may also be cited and referred to as section X.
