§ 32.257 DISCIPLINE.
   The Mayor or the Chief of Police may peremptorily suspend, demote or discharge any member of the Department for neglect of duty, disobedience of orders, misconduct or failure to properly perform his or her duties. In the event of disciplinary action by the Chief of Police, a report of such action shall be made to the Mayor within 24 hours thereafter, and if the action is taken by the Mayor, the same shall be reported to the City Council. Such report shall be in writing, stating the reason for the action and a copy of such report shall be promptly given to the clerk of the Civil Service Commission. The person or body to whom the report is made shall promptly confirm or reject such disciplinary action according to the facts and merits of the case.
