§ 152.01 GENERAL PROVISIONS.
   (A)   Title. This chapter shall be known, and may be cited as, the “Addressing Ordinance of Spencer County, Indiana,” or “this chapter.”
   (B)   Compliance. No structure shall be assigned an address or street named in any matter whatsoever in the unincorporated areas of the county except in full compliance with all provisions of this chapter.
   (C)   Purpose.
      (1)   The purpose of this chapter shall be to set standards for residences and other structures numbering and road naming in the county, and establish the authority and methods to be used when assigning addresses to properties in the county.
      (2)   These standards shall be used to establish residence locations which will be used in the implementation of an enhanced 911 emergency response system in the county.
      (3)   It is intended to provide continuity, avoid duplication, and prevent general confusion regarding the location of developed parcels of land in the county.
   (D)   Application. It is not intended by this chapter to interfere with, abrogate, or amend any covenants or other agreements between parties, nor is it intended by this chapter to repeal, abrogate, or annul, or in any way interfere with, existing provisions of laws or ordinances not specifically repealed by this chapter, or any rules or regulations previously adopted or issued pursuant to law relating to the listing of contractors.
   (E)   Jurisdiction. This chapter shall apply to all unincorporated land within the county.
