§ 31.06 HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT; VACATION TIME, NOTICE, ATTENDANCE.
   (A)   (1)   If an employee isn’t going to work a certain day, a call shall be made to the Highway Department prior to starting time.
      (2)   Vacation days shall not be given one day at a time.
      (3)   Thirty days’ notice shall be given prior to taking vacation.
      (4)   Employees shall be employed one year before receipt of benefits (vacation and holidays).
      (5)   Employees shall work 75% of work time to qualify for benefits.
      (6)   After 90 days, new employees shall receive a pay increase.
      (7)   Any employee who is continuously tardy out of a 40-hour week (Highway Superintendent and foreman shall decide), there shall be an automatic three-day lay off.
      (8)   Any employee who is continuously tardy (Highway Superintendent and foreman will decide), shall be fired automatically.
   (B)   (1)   If a County Highway Department worker, subject to said contract, takes an approved vacation day, said worker shall be paid for the same number of hours as the regular work schedule in effect at the Highway Department for that day of either eight or ten hours.
      (2)   When any Highway Department worker, by virtue of being paid for various length vacation days during the year, is left with less than eight hours of remaining vacation time, said worker may schedule a partial day vacation to use up all the remaining hours of vacation time.
      (3)   Said worker shall comply with all other terms provided in the contract for advance notice to and approval by the Superintendent prior to utilizing the remaining “less than eight hours” vacation time.
