Sec. 9-29. Notice.
The designated city official will notify the property owner, agent, or occupant creating, permitting, or maintaining a nuisance to remedy or abate the nuisance on the property. The notice and order to abate will be in writing and may be hand delivered or sent by certified mail, return receipt requested to the property owner, agent, or occupant at his or her last known address. The notice will order the owner, agent, or occupant to remedy or abate the nuisance within a designated number of days from the date the notice was hand delivered or postmarked. Nothing in this section prevents the city from attempting to informally resolve the nuisance by contacting the property owner, agent, or occupant, informing them of the nuisance, and requesting they abate it.
This section does not apply to nuisances caused by the failure of a property owner, agent, or occupant to remove snow or ice from the sidewalk.
