(A) Application and eligibility. To be considered for service with the Fire Department, individuals must complete a Fire Department application, and all applicants shall be considered in a manner consistent with the city standards for selecting volunteers. Upon approval by the Common Council, the applicant shall be placed on the volunteer roster for liability and workers compensation purposes.

(B) Duties generally; qualifications.
(1) Volunteer personnel shall perform official Department duties as directed by the ranking command officer and in compliance with city and Fire Department policies and procedures. All volunteer personnel shall be physically able to perform the duties for the position in which they serve.
(2) Failure to maintain compliance with Department policies, procedures and standards shall be cause for discipline or removal.

(C) Volunteer incentive and reimbursement. Volunteer personnel may receive incentives and reimbursements as established from time to time, by resolution of the Common Council, in accordance with the current adopted fiscal year budget. Fire Department personnel, who are career employees, shall be compensated under the city’s pay plan and shall not receive the compensation detailed in this section.
