(A) The designated city official will notify the property owner, agent or occupant creating, permitting or maintaining a nuisance to remedy or abate the nuisance on the property. The notice and order to abate will be in writing and may be hand delivered or sent by certified mail, return receipt requested to the property owner, agent or occupant at his or her last known address. The notice will order the owner, agent or occupant to remedy or abate the nuisance within a designated number of days from the date the notice was hand delivered or postmarked. Nothing in this section prevents the city from attempting to informally resolve the nuisance by contacting the property owner, agent or occupant, informing them of the nuisance and requesting they abate it.
(B) This section does not apply to nuisances caused by the failure of a property owner, agent or occupant to remove snow or ice from the sidewalk.
