Any animal which causes severe injury to a person shall be quarantined for a period of ten days as ordered by the Animal Control Officer or the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety. During quarantine, the animal shall be securely confined and refrain from any contact with any other animal. At the discretion of the Animal Control Officer or the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety, the quarantine may be on the premises of the owner. The Animal Control Officer or the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety requires other confinements, the owner shall surrender the animal for the quarantine period to an animal shelter or shall, at the owner’s expense, place the animal in a veterinary hospital.
