§ 90.05 RECORD SEARCHES.
   (A)   When the city’s Police Department impounds any motor vehicle under the authority of this chapter and does not know the identity of the registered owner, lienholder or other legally entitled person, the Chief of Police of the city or any member of the Police Department designated by him or her will cause the vehicle registration records of the state to be searched by the Secretary of State for the purpose of obtaining the required ownership information.
   (B)   In addition, he or she shall cause the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) files to be searched by a directed communication to the State Police for stolen or wanted information on the vehicle.
