The city shall elect a Mayor and four Commissioners at a general municipal election held in an odd-numbered year upon the expiration of the term of office of the Mayor and every four years thereafter. The day when an election shall be held, polling places and terms of the election shall be determined by the provisions of the General Election Law (10 ILCS 5/1-1 et seq. and 65 ILCS 5/4-3-1).
