A. Building Permit Required: A building permit is required for the construction, alteration, repair, removal, modification, or occupancy of any structure within city limits. No permit shall be necessary where the alteration, repair, or modification is minor as determined by the building inspector. Applications for a building permit will be provided by the city and issued through the planning and building department.
B. Building Permit Review And Issuance: Upon receipt of a complete building permit application, the following review process shall take place:
1. The application is checked for completeness and input into the building permit numbering system.
2. The building official and the fire chief (where applicable) shall review the application, building plans and site plans, ensuring the application meets the adopted city, building, and fire codes.
3. If the proposed structure includes a fire sprinkler system, the plans and calculations shall be sent by the city to a sprinkling system specialist for independent review. The applicant will be billed by the city for reimbursement of the cost of the independent review.
4. Once all approvals have been granted, the applicant shall be notified the permit is available for pick up and of the total building permit fee and impact fees due.
5. No construction is permitted to take place until the permit application has been approved and all applicable fees have been paid by the applicant. (Ord. 13-01, 1-8-2013)
