The Building Inspector shall have the power to order all work stopped on the construction, alteration or repair of buildings when such work is being done in violation of a provision of a Village ordinance or a State law relating thereto. Work shall not be resumed after the issuance of such an order, except upon written permission of the Building Inspector. However, if the stop order is an oral one, it shall be followed by a written stop order within one hour. Such written order may be served by a Village policeman.
