It shall be the duty of the Village Attorney to counsel and advise the Village Board, the Mayor and heads of departments; to prepare or revise ordinances when so requested by the Board or any committee thereof; to prepare or review for execution all contracts and agreements of which the village is a party and shall approve as to form all such legal instruments; to give legal opinions upon any legal matter or question submitted by the Board or any officer of the Village; and to assist the Village Prosecutor in the prosecution or defense of all actions in courts of record or all courts of appeal, when necessary.
