(A) Ordinance No. 12-15, setting forth the provisions of an equal employment opportunity policy, including provisions to benefit individuals with disabilities, is hereby adopted by reference as if set forth in full herein. Copies of Ordinance No. 12-15 and any amendments thereto, are available for public use during business hours in the Office of the Village Clerk.
(B) In order to provide equal employment and advancement opportunities to all individuals, employment decisions at the village will be based on merit, qualifications, and abilities. Except where required or permitted by law, employment practices will not be influenced or affected by an applicant’s or employee’s race, color, creed, religion, sex, national origin, ancestry, citizenship, age, handicap, disability, marital status, sexual orientation, military service, medical condition or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.
(C) The village will make reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with known disabilities unless doing so would result in an undue hardship. This policy governs all aspects of employment, including selection, job assignment, compensation, discipline, termination, and access to benefits and training.
(D) Any employees with questions or concerns about any type of discrimination in the workplace are encouraged to bring these issues to the attention of their immediate supervisor and/or the Mayor. Employees can raise concerns and make reports without fear of reprisal. Anyone found to be engaging in any type of unlawful discrimination will be subject to disciplinary action.
