(A) There is hereby created a Police Department, an executive department of the village. The Police Department shall consist of the Chief of Police and full-time or part-time police officers, who shall serve on the days and times designated by the Mayor, Chief of Police or Police Committee.
(B) The Mayor and Village Board of Trustees shall have the right to appoint additional part-time members from time to time. The members of the Police Department or employees of the village and, except as hereinafter provided, shall serve from the date of their appointment until further order of the Mayor and Village Board of Trustees.
