The village hereby elects to participate in the program provided for in the state’s Police Training Act, being 50 ILCS 705. Before an individual may commence regular employment as a police officer, he or she must have been certified by the State Local Governmental Law Enforcement Officers Training Board as having successfully completed an approved training course as provided in said Act. Such basic training must be completed by the trainee within his or her probationary period of one year.
