§ 31.41 CITY BUILDING INSPECTOR.
   (A)   The Building Inspector shall be appointed by the Mayor and approved by the City Council on January 1 succeeding his or her election or as soon thereafter as is practicable. The Building Inspector shall hold office for two years from the date of his or her appointment or until his or her successor is appointed and qualified, subject to removal for good cause at any time by the Mayor.
   (B)   It shall be the duty of the Building Inspector to enforce all laws relating to the construction, alteration, repair, removal, and demolition of buildings and structures. The Building Inspector may permit, on the basis of duly authenticated reports from recognized sources, the use of new materials or modes of construction not provided for and may adopt the accepted standards of material or workmanship of federal or state bureaus, national technical organizations , or fire underwriters. He or she shall be under the direct control of the Mayor. All licenses and building fees shall be paid to the Building Inspector, who shall transfer them to the City General Fund within five days after receiving the same. The Building Inspector shall make a written report to the City Council monthly, quarterly, semiannually, or annually, as required by the City Council, summarizing all activities of his or her office for the previous specified period.
   (C)   The Building Inspector shall receive any compensation as is established by the City Council.
