(A) The City Engineer shall be appointed by the Mayor and approved by the City Council on January 1 succeeding his or her election or as soon thereafter as is practicable. He or she shall hold office for two years, subject to removal for good cause at any time by the Mayor.
(B) The City Engineer shall keep an office within the city; see that all public works and improvements are executed according to contract, plans, and specifications; and certify that they are so executed. It shall be the duty of the City Engineer to advise city authorities and officers on all engineering matters which may arise and pertain to the business of the city.
(C) The City Engineer shall perform any other duties as are required of him or her by ordinance not inconsistent with the law.
(D) The City Engineer shall receive any compensation as is established by contract.
