The city adopts the most current Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRM) and flood damage prevention ordinance and subsequent amendments, on file with Campbell County.
(A) The flood damage prevention ordinance shall apply to all areas of special flood hazard within the jurisdiction of the city as identified by the Federal Emergency management Agency in the Flood Insurance Study for Campbell County, and mandates that no structure or land in said areas shall hereafter be located, or extended, converted or structurally altered without compliance with its provisions;
(B) Requires the approval of the Floodplain Administrator and permit from the City Mayor and the Kentucky Division of Water for the placement of new construction, substantial improvements, or manufactured homes or businesses within areas of special flood hazard;
(C) New construction and substantial improvements be constructed with materials and utility requirement resistant to flood damage and the lowest floor of any residential or business structure constructed or substantially improved shall have the lowest floor elevated to or above base flood elevation; and
(D) Provides penalties and/or imprisonment for each day a violation of the ordinance continues.
