§ 35.11 NEPOTISM POLICY.
   (A)   Neither the Village President shall appoint, as an employee or officer, to receive any compensation from the village, any person who is a relative by blood or marriage within the third degree of the President or any one or more of the members of the Board, nor shall any Village Administrator or any other appointing authority appoint to any such position any relative of his or her or of the President or any member of the Board within such degree of kinship. Relatives to the third degree include parents, children, siblings, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, grandparent and first cousins.
   (B)   This restriction does not apply to the Village Police Department.
   (C)   The employment of any existing village employee as of the effective date of this section shall not be impacted.
   (D)   In the future, the election of a relative (defined in division (A) above) to the office of President or the Village Board shall not impact any person who is an employee at the time petitions for election are submitted, or the President or a Trustee is appointed to fill a vacancy.
