It shall be unlawful for any person to, by himself or herself, or for another, set up, open, keep, maintain or conduct any gambling house or room or place used for the practice of gambling or playing for money, property, thing of value or for anything representing the same or knowingly permit or suffer any building or premises occupied, owned, leased or controlled by him or her to be used for any such purpose or keep or use or permit to be used in any building or place owned, leased or controlled by him or her any keno table, faro table, wheel of fortune, roulette wheel, shuffleboard, cards or other device or instrument commonly used for the purpose of gaming, except as otherwise permitted by state law and Chapter 135.
