§ 90.04 IMPOUNDMENT.
   (A)   General. It shall be the duty of the village officials or any person designated by them to take up and impound in the County Animal Shelter any dog found running at large in the village contrary to the provisions of this chapter, and the owner or keeper of such dog shall immediately be given notice by mail of such impounding, if ownership of the dog can be established.
   (B)   Redemption of impounded dogs. Any dog impounded, except such as may have bitten a person, shall, unless sooner redeemed, be held for a period of seven days in order to afford opportunity to the owner or keeper thereof to redeem the same. Any such owner or keeper desiring to redeem his or her impounded dog shall pay an impounding fee of $100 the first offense, $150 for the second offense and $200 for the third and all offenses thereafter to the Village Clerk, who shall issue a receipt therefor. No dog shall be released from the dog pound unless the owner or keeper exhibits such receipt to the pound officer and also pays the cost of keeping such dog while impounded. No dog shall be released without having been vaccinated for the current calendar year.
   (C)   Destruction of impounded dogs. Any impounded dog which shall not be redeemed within seven days, as provided in division (A) above, shall be humanely destroyed by the poundkeeper.
