It shall be unlawful for any person to shoot, fire, or discharge any gun, pistol, or other type of firearm within the Town. This section shall not apply to any law officer in the discharge of his or her duty or to any person in the defense of his or her home or person or to any act done in order to prevent the commission of a felony, providing such actions are in compliance with applicable N.C.G.S. A violation of this section is subject to the penalty provided in § 10.99(A).
