§ 100.40 OBSTRUCTIONS; CLOSURE OF PUBLIC WAYS.
   (A)   It shall be unlawful for any person to obstruct any public street, alley, or sidewalk in the Town by any means whatsoever. Nothing contained in this section shall be construed to prohibit the Town Manager or designee from giving permission for temporary obstruction of any street, alley, or sidewalk in cases that are reasonably necessary. A violation of this section is subject to the penalty provided in § 10.99(A).
   (B)   The Town Director of Public Services is authorized and directed, upon request by a sponsoring entity or entities, to close public ways within the Town and upon determination that the requested action is in the interests of the Town and is responsible in scope and duration, to agree to the closing and to take measure to effectuate the closings, including the seeking of any necessary approval from the State Department of Transportation and providing for barricades and traffic control.

   (C)   The Police and Fire Departments are authorized to temporarily close, obstruct or restrict pedestrian and vehicular traffic on any public street, alley, sidewalk or other way in the town for public safety purposes.
