(A) All automatic sprinkler or wet stand pipe systems supplied by village water shall be equipped with an approved double detector check valve. All such devices shall be maintained by and remain the property of the building owner.
(B) Private fire hydrants are the sole responsibility of the property owner as to function, maintenance, and repairs. Private fire hydrants shall be painted yellow in accordance with the Village of South Elgin Engineering Design and Inspection Manual.
(C) All fire hydrants public and private shall be inspected annually. Private fire hydrants must be inspected by the property owner in the presence of a Village Department of Public Works representative. All defective hydrants must be reported immediately to South Elgin Countryside Fire Protection District.
