(A) The village hereby adopts the 2018 International Residential Code, with all subsequent editions and amendments hereafter, by reference as if fully set out herein, with the additions, insertions, deletions and changes prescribed in division (B) of this section. All references to, and all functions served by, the “Board of Appeals” shall refer to and be served by the Code Hearing Department.
(B) The following sections of the 2018 International Residential Code are hereby amended, deleted or modified as hereinafter set forth:
(1) 101.1 Title. Insert: “the Village of South Elgin, Kane County, Illinois” for “[name of jurisdiction].”
(2) 105.2 Work exempt from permit. Delete: subsections 1, 2, 5 and 10.
(3) 301.2 Insert: In Table:

(4) Delete the section of Table R301.2(1) titled “MANUAL J DESIGN CRITERIA” and footnote “n”.
(5) 313.1: Townhouse automatic fire sprinkler systems. Delete: An automatic residential fire sprinkler system shall be installed in townhouses. Insert: “A limited area fire sprinkler head is required in the vicinity of the furnace, laundry equipment, stove, and attached garage in townhouses.”
(6) 313.2: One- and two-family dwellings automatic fire sprinkler systems. Delete: An automatic residential fire sprinkler system shall be installed in one- and two-family dwellings. Insert: “A limited area fire sprinkler head is required in the vicinity of the furnace, laundry equipment, stove, and attached garage in one- and two-family dwellings.” Exception: Insert: “Homes located in the Sagebrook Subdivision and Trails of Silver Glen Subdivision.”
(7) 403.1.1: Minimum size. After the first sentence, insert “Any structure which is not included within the provisions of Tables R403.1(l) through Table R403.1(3) shall have footings in accordance with Table R403.1(4).”

(8) 507.1: Decks. After the last sentence, insert “Deck footings or piers must be at least 8 inches thick (T), sufficient width (W) to accommodate the imposed loads, and footing projections (P) shall not be less than 2 inches and shall not exceed the footing or pier thickness. (See R403.1.1)
(9) The Village of South Elgin hereby adopts the following Appendix:
