(A) The Village President shall appoint the Village Engineer with the advice and consent of the Village Board of Trustees to serve a term of one fiscal year (or remainder thereof), but in no event longer than the term of the current Village President. Removal from office shall be in like manner and in accordance with applicable state laws and contractual provisions. The Village Engineer may hold another non-conflicting municipal office, either elected or appointed.
(B) The office of Village Engineer may be filled by a qualified employee of the village or by contract. The Village Engineer shall be a registered and licensed design professional or registered and licensed professional design firm in the State of Illinois. The village may also contract with other registered and licensed design professionals to supplement and assist the Village Engineer in fulfilling the duties of the Office of Village Engineer. The Village Engineer shall perform such duties as may be assigned by ordinance and by the Village Administrator from time to time.
