§ 31.025 CONTINUITY OF GOVERNMENT.
   In the event of a DISASTER or ATTACK as defined in the Emergency Interim Succession Act, ILCS Ch. 5, Act 275, §§ 1 et seq. (the Act) and the Village President cannot be located or is unable to exercise the powers of the office or discharge the duties of the office, then the Village Administrator is hereby designated as the emergency interim successor under the Act with the authority to exercise the powers of the office of Village President and the authority to discharge the duties of an office until a successor is appointed or elected and qualified as may be provided by the constitution, statutes, charters and ordinances, or until the lawful incumbent is able to resume the exercise of the powers and discharge the duties of the office. In the event that the Village Administrator cannot be located or is unable to exercise the powers of the office, then for purposes of continuity of government under the Act, the Chief of Police is named as the next emergency interim successor to the office of Village President. In the further event that that the Chief of Police cannot be located or is unable to exercise the powers of the office, then for purposes of continuity of government under the Act, the EMA Director is named as the next emergency interim successor to the office of Village President.
