(A) Immediately after impounding any pet, the Animal Control Officer shall make a reasonable effort to notify the owner/custodian of its impoundment and to inform the owner/custodian of the conditions whereby he or she can regain custody of the pet.
(B) Any pet impounded under the provisions of this chapter and not claimed by its owner within five (5) business days becomes the property of Lexington County Animal Services and may be humanely destroyed by Animal Services.
