6-2-3-3: EXCEPTIONS:
   A.   The provisions of this chapter governing size, weight and load shall not apply to:
      1.   Fire apparatus;
      2.   Equipment for snow and ice removal operations owned or operated by any governmental body, or required or directed by the village;
      3.   Implements of husbandry temporarily operated or towed in a combination upon a road, street or highway in this village, provided that such combination does not consist of more than three (3) vehicles or, in the case of having fresh, perishable fruits or vegetables from farm to the point of first processing, not more than three (3) wagons being towed by an implement of husbandry 1 ;
      4.   School buses as defined in 625 Illinois Compiled Statutes 5/1-182.
   B.   The provisions of this chapter governing weight shall not apply to:
      1.   Vehicles (including loads) operated by a public utility when transporting equipment required for emergency repair of public utility facilities or properties, or vehicles transporting equipment required for the emergency repair of water wells or septic systems;
      2.   Trucks used exclusively for garbage or refuse disposal equipped with self-compactors but not containing industrial roll-off hoists and roll-off containers, provided that such vehicles do not exceed the following weight limitations:
         22,000 pounds per single axle
         40,000 pounds per tandem axle
         54,000 gross vehicle
      3.   A tow truck under instructions from a police officer to legally clear, remove or impound a vehicle. (Ord. 2016-1128, 7-14-2016)
