5-1-7: MANDATORY RETIREMENT AGE:
The age of retirement of any full-time sworn police officer in the service of the Village shall be sixty-six (66) years, and any full-time sworn police officer employed by the village shall be required to cease employment as a sworn police officer upon his or her attainment of the age of sixty-six (66) years, provided however that the Police Chief who continues to demonstrate the physical fitness necessary to successfully perform the essential functions of the position, pursuant to an appropriate medical exam, may extend the mandatory retirement age for a period not to exceed 12 months, but in no case shall a Police Chief continue to be employed in that capacity upon attaining the age of seventy-one (71) years.
