141.02 QUALIFICATIONS.
   Volunteer fire fighters shall be residents of the Village or reside within a 10 mile radius of the Village and shall be between the ages of 18 and 70 years. Fire fighters shall be fit for such duty, hold the state required certificates for such service and shall comply with the standard operating procedures of the department and the provisions of this chapter. Fire Fighters shall furnish the Chief with a statement from a qualified doctor, stating the fire fighter is fit for such service. Fire fighters over the age of 60 years, but who have not yet reached the age of 70 years, shall not take active part in fighting fires unless such fire fighter has furnished each year after obtaining the age of 60 years, a statement from a qualified doctor, stating the fire fighter is fit for such service. Such examinations shall be at the Village’s expense by a doctor approved by the Chief. The Chief may require such statement whenever the Chief deems it necessary to determine a fire fighter’s fitness to serve.
