§ 70.03  SKATEBOARDS, ROLLER SKATES AND THE LIKE.
   (A)   Roller skates, street skates and skateboards regulated. No person shall roller skate or ride a skateboard anywhere within the city without complying with the terms of this section. As used herein, TO ROLLER SKATE shall mean to skate on any type of roller skates or street skates.
   (B)   Streets. No person shall roller skate or ride a skateboard on any street, except for the purpose of crossing the street. The rules relating to pedestrians crossing the streets shall apply to persons crossing a street on roller skates or a skateboard. No person crossing a street on roller skates or a skateboard shall travel too fast for safety under the conditions existing.
   (C)   Sidewalks. No person shall roller skate or ride a skateboard in any manner on any public sidewalk within the city downtown area on Merchant Street (105 to 7th Street) and 6th Street (Anne to Fannin).
   (D)   Sales and rentals. Any commercial establishment selling or renting street skates, roller skates of any kind or skateboards shall post a copy of this section, or a summary of the rules set out in this section in a conspicuous place where persons buying or renting skates will see it.
   (E)   Effective date. This section shall be effective from and after its passage and publication of the caption of the ordinance codified herein.
